What is a court marriage in Pakistan?

A court marriage in Pakistan is a Nikah performed in front of a lawyer with free-will affidavits sworn before an Oath Commissioner, witnessed and registered as a Nikah Nama. It carries the same legal weight as any other Nikah and is fully recognised by NADRA, courts and foreign embassies.

Do I need parental consent for court marriage?+

Under Pakistani law, any adult of sound mind can marry without parental consent. However, we always recommend involving family wherever safely possible.

Is court marriage legal under Islam?+

Yes. A court marriage is simply a Nikah performed with witnesses and registered under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance — it is fully compliant with Shariah.

What happens if there is a threat or pressure from family?+

We can guide you to obtain protective orders from the relevant court and arrange the marriage in a secure environment. Confidentiality is absolute.
